Attachment started 2 days ago. Excited and scary on the first day. Nothing to do at Jurong Island. Later of the day, realized that I had been posted to Changi New Water plant. I have been isolated from the group. All of them working at Jurong and I, myself only had to go and work at Changi. Not fair.
Hmmm, actually I cannot say totally not fair. Just that these 2 different location had its good and bad points.
Like in Jurong, the air isn't clean because the whole island is industries burning waste and emitting harmful gases everyday. Moreover working Sakra ( Sembcorp Ulitiltiy ) you only get to do the "everyday" stuff. Because the sakra plant had been there for centuries, many of the problems had been anticipated or rectified. You are performing nothing more than a robot, maintain here.. check check there.
Of course beside all the bad point, you are working inside the main building where all the bosses and important people get to see you, know you. Of course you tend to stand a better chance in aquiring something when you ask for.
Changi New water bring in its pre-commencing periods. You gets to know every bolts and nuts of the structure. Exposed to opportunity of learning things out of your job scope. More comprehensive learning. Being a newly born infant, the plant commencing with a beta period where water is conveyed in the pipes to test workability but not yet supplying to public officially. A lot of difficulties and unforeseen mishap is going to happen. Through this you really can learn together with all the people and include it in your final report and a value added.
Bad point is, no canteen within the 5km radius. Very inaccessible location. You have to packet food in the morning like 7.30am and then eat it at 12pm. Take note that the army regulation had stated that ration that are more than 4 hours old are strictly to be disposed. So imagine eating "overdue" food for 4 months.
With these contrary, now I am positioned into a dilemma. I was given the chance to choose to come back J.I if I want to. But the question is, should I??
