Should selling of human’s organ be legalized? Currently, selling organ for money is banned around the world. Only donation is allowed. But who would be willing to live with a single kidney out of the sake of good will? Not likely. Most of the case, only deceased person may consider that.
In United States, they already have markets for donation of blood, semen, human eggs and surrogate wombs. Should we consider extending markets to donate or sell non-vital human organs such as kidneys and livers? Please be informed that we are having more than 75,000 people on the waiting list for organ transplant. Many doctors have the know-how to cure a dying patient but they just don’t have enough donated organs to make it possible. With the acceptance of organ transplantation, thousands of life can be saved.
On the other hand, if selling of organ is legalized. There will be problem arising also. There will likely be situation of exploiting the poor by the rich people. As rich and healthy person are unlikely to sell their organ. Therefore only the poor are likely to sell it because of desperation.
In addition to that, if organs were to be treated as commodity and sell it like a car/property, does that mean that when a person becomes bankrupt, would their organs be considered in their final evaluation of their total assets?
However, under very narrow circumstances, we should consider methods like, organ trading with family members or kin. Example trading a kidney with a bone narrow transplant. Although this type of trade is also prohibited, it may be a very reasonable exception.
That's my write up for my IS modules. Speaking with impact. I am going to present in front of class for more than 1 minute discussion on any issue that we reckon can arouse people interest. Sibei Impactful right...
