Despite my father's strong disapproval for me to ride motor, I still went ahead to take my Class 2B license.
That period when I was 18, all I wanted was the freedom to travel on Singapore road, my way. Are we not tired sitting on other people's transport? Every teenager wants freedom and motorcycling is the cheapest way to get around it.
No more excuses of mid night charges when friends ask you out of supper.
However, taking a license isn't down right easy. You need perseverance, patient, passion and efforts to travel a long way to the driving center. I didn't persevere, it took me a good 3 years to finally attain my class 2B. My motivation? I think my camp Ang Mo Quee was so ulu and troublesome for my to take bus or MRT. That's why I had to get my own transport.
I could not tell you my excitement when I first got my Class 2B. So you think you pass your Class 3 only, you got your euphoria. Entirely different okie. Do you really own your car that you are driving.
NO!
Most of them were borrowed from parent. Even if your parent brought you a car, its different. You are obligated to follow their ground rules, curfews, and you can't modify your car if your parent don't think that its safe. Although they gave it to you but its not entirely yours.
But for me, buying and maintaining a motor is within my own capability. Its my property, my asset and exclusively, my procession.
So after I got my 2B, I went straight to buy a motor.
This is my first motor, Honda Wave 125. Its my baby.
Soon after I also did sticker work to my bike. I didn't buy off shop where most of the people did. I custom made my own sticker and its exclusively representing myself. Many people incl. YS thinks that my stickers are childish, stupid and ugly. But I don't care and I am proud.
One good things are, people recognize me by my sticker :)
Until I get tired of it, I went to buy Honda Phantom 200cc. Its' bigger capacity and bigger compartment was its plus point however it was compromised by agility and the ease to wriggle through traffics. It served me for 5 days and I regretted buying Phantom. I sold immediately and got back a "Kup Kia".
Yamaha Sparkz 135. I never really did love this bike. No more than my honda wave even with its better capacity. By the way, its out of my life now. I do not want to be a motorist anymore. No more bad hair day, I could jell my galipo everyday and not let it ruin by my stupid helmet.
2 more years and I am going to get my own car. I hope so.
